a deep dive into the iconic style of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy
In a world full of faux pas and fashion fads, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's style lasted through the decades. Grab a snack, sit down and take a deep dive with me into some of her most iconic looks. Trust me, you’re going to want to grab your credit card and get ready to shop for these fashion staples.
As many of my readers may know, my main source of content is based upon 'style-steals' of the elite, celebrities and style icons of past and present. One that has become my favorite style to recreate and find variations of, is that of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. I cannot begin to explain how elevated her style is. At first glance one may claim that her style is basic and simple, yet that is what makes it so elevated.
From watching shows like Gossip Girl and Revenge, one of the hardest styles to replicate is that of the elite socialites. The styles that ooze grace and glam not only radiate a certain level of exclusivity, but they showcase what most yearn for. In terms of the style of Carolyn, she radiates that New York-SouthHamptons, old money aesthetic.
Nowadays, all we hear about are groups of aesthetics, it seems that may be the only thing that trends around. It allows us to group different styles into categories and find one to fit. Just like everything else in life, there is not a one-size-fits-all aesthetic. Some days I may be feeling Parisian Chic, while others I may be feeling Old Money.
You may be wondering, 'Well, what exactly defines an Old Money Aesthetic?'
Very simply put, an old money aesthetic radiates a multitude of energies. Not to be confused with new money, old money radiates a timeless style in a range of categories. Whether it be from Ralph Lauren to Eliza B., the aesthetics fit those that exude generational, timeless wealth and class.
Think about it, most of the time watching these shows we only can wish that we were living the lives of the elite and radiating that energy. A main portion of that status and demeanor comes from the fashion these men and ladies choose to wear. No matter what, a good outfit can elevate a person's entire status. The first thing we tend to notice about someone might be there face...but it may also be what they are wearing. Now, don't get me wrong, I am not one to dress to the 9's every single day; but having those closet staples that are chic and timeless will take your everyday look to the top.
When looking into the fashion of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, her style and outfits do not scream 'designer;' which is what sets her aside from the 'new-money' grouping. An outfit does not have to have a designer printed all over to be expensive, and a simple outfit does not need to be expensive to exude the look of expense.
Now, the best part of it all -- let's take a look at what I call the "Capsule Carolyn-Bessette Kennedy Wardrobe"
